Pipe lines used for chemicals are designed in stainless steel. Depending on the corrosion load, simple or high-quality stainless steel, for example 1.4539, is chosen. Alternatively, additional interior coatings are an option, provided that the medium is not abrasive and the operating temperature is not too high.
Expansion joints in the pipelines of can be either with rubber bellows or stainless steel, materials like fluorocarbon elastomers (FKM) or fluoro-ethylene polyymers (PTFE) may be selected for highly aggressive chemical conditions. Apart from rubber expansion joints, stainless steel expansion joints may also be selected and used for chemical plant pipelines.
